Discussion PS5 on performance mode has terrible FPS drops and performance issues

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Edit4: as of the first of October 4pm of GMT time the game has received a patch on PS5 and my FPS problems are gone with the exclusion of autosave that still makes the game lag for few seconds, but otherwise it's a stable 60fps on performance mode which is absolutely amazing. The game looks and plays extremely well now, at least for me. Can't speak for other platforms of course!

Tried cutting the video shorter to just show the lag, but Reddit claims the video can't be used so fast forward first seven seconds. The graphics are magnificent, but the performance issues are constant when playing on performance mode. I also switched the camera mode to classic as the modern FOV is extremely cramped, but that muffled audio regardless of voice volume being 100/100 in settings. I'll be updating issues in here as they come across

Edit: restarting the game resets all the settings to default and now it looks like my FPS is stuck to below 30 on performance mod, except cut scenes which look crispy and smooth the way 60fps should

Edit2: lot of people here scream "can't criticise it's free", but did you ever stop thinking that although this is free for me there are thousands upon thousands who bought this from sale just to experience the game for the first time? Also the purpose of this post is to inform other users about the problems so if anyone is about to buy the game, they have more knowledge regarding the current state.

Edit3: turning off graphic settings like vignette seems to reduce the stuttering, but whenever the game autosaves it lags like hell and the autosave does happen in combat as well. Restarting the game causes all of the settings to reset and it also logs you out and requires you to log back in, if you want to connect your CDPR account for extra goodies

During the snowball fight, Ciri dies after the fourth hit. Completely dead. Empty health bar. Game doesn't advance.

Discussion Honestly the thing I'm looking forward to most about Witcher 4 is seeing how CDPR treats Geralt as a side character, without player input having any effect on how he behaves.

Post image

Don't get me wrong. I love dialogue choices, love them, and I know Geralt already has a good few moments where the player doesn't have any input as to how he acts, but it'll be fun to see Geralt as a character in which the player has no control whatsoever over.

Honestly with how CDPR are with their games, I wouldn't be shocked if they did something like a save simulation where you can share your Witcher 3 choices and that affects Witcher 4 Geralt in his behaviour and dialogue.

Discussion Geralt in W4 only NPC or maybe…?

Post image

It might be good if Geralt is playable after all, maybe in some missions where he helps Ciri, or perhaps in a larger part of the game. I’m fine if he isn’t, but I wouldn’t mind them implementing a character-switching system.

Discussion In the Blood and Wine DLC 10th Anniversary Stream, they said this picture might have hints/easter eggs for the upcoming DLC.

Post image
2.8k Upvotes

The sword here looks like the same one Geralt has in his hand in the DLC tease image. And the main girl dancing looks similar to the girl in the Witcher 4 reveal trailer.

Also could it be Shani the right girl who's face is not visible?

Dandeline confirmed for DLC?

Also, they said the 3rd sword will play an important part in the story.

It will be similar in length/quality to Blood and Wine.

New Gwent cards they teased but didn't reveal.

They will reveal more during gamescom in Cologne.

They also let us sample a bit of the soundtrack during the stream.

They mentioned they are still working on the cross platform mod support and it is still happening. They will share more when they can.

Discussion 78% of those who bought the game on Steam never finished the main story?

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

I wonder if most of them wouldn't be like "hmm this game is so interesting and filled with content I'm just so caught up on side quests and exploration thus never got to finish the main story before I moved on from this game entirely".

Or even for those who were tunnel visioned on the main story and didn't bother with any other content it was still too long?

This is the third time today. And 11th overall, where the gane crashes. There are also numerous glitches throughout the game which are either laughable or game destroying. How TF does an 11 year old game have this amount of problems running smoothly?

Anyone else getting quite annoyed by the absolute gamebreaking bullshit that occurs regularly?

Discussion Can someone please tell me why people think olgierd is evil and must be damned

Post image

I just finished my first hos playthrough and before I say anything about my original question, the dlc was absolutely insane. I feel like I robbed cdpr when I got the base game and dlc for insanely cheap price.

Regarding olgierd and gaunter o dimm, both fantastic characters imo. I know that olgierd isn’t morally white but what he did is totally understandable and what happened is more of “side effect” of the pact he made with gaunter o dimm. For those who took o dims side, could I please give me ur reasoning, I am sure having the other perspective would make me appreciate the game even more

Post image

I already finished the game with DLCs in my 2nd playthrough few months ago, and with many games pending in my backlog, I'll just play some side quests and contracts.

Curious to see what my other fellow witchers have in mind? I may go for another replay pre the dlc next year.

Discussion Stop criticizing free stuff or we're never getting anything from them anymore!

It's FREE and it's OPTIONAL! They never had to do it in the first place and nobody is forcing you to play the remastered version.

The number of people complaining is unbeliavable!

Stop being ungrateful brats and just keep playing the old version if you don't like the new one.

Lets respect the Devs and the work and passion they put in beautiful game.

Rant over.

Discussion Am I the only one that hasn't experienced any major issues in Remaster yet...?

Post image
641 Upvotes

After looking around what people were saying about the Remaster, I was a little bit scared of what might be awaiting for me. But so far I have to say, I haven't seen any major issues with the game as of yet... The only thing that did bother me was the change in combat, but I think I just need to get used to it. Does anyone else have similar experience?

I'm playing on PS5, if that matters in any way.

Discussion In Witcher 3, there are 5 signs. We all have our personal preferences and own game styles. What’s your favorite Witcher sign to use in game?

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

I always love using Aard and Yrden with the Forgotten Wolven Armor Set. It gives you extra damage when hitting targets trapped in Yrden with Aard especially when its combined with piercing cold. The effect of the bandits just breaking due to the cold is as satisfying as any finishing effect. And it’s also perfect for crowd control especially when I mess with Redanian and Niilfgardian guards lmao. How about you, what’s your favorite Witcher sign to use in game?
