Discussion/Thảo luận ⚠️Serious Warning about Traveling by Sleeper Bus in Vietnam (Sapa Explorer via vexere App)

1.9k Upvotes

On 15th August, me and 3 of my friends boarded a Sapa Explorer sleeper bus from Hanoi to Da Nang, booked via Viexer app. The bus left around 10:30 PM.

At about 3 AM on 16th August, our driver crashed the bus directly into a stationary truck on the highway. I was in the first sleeper bed – we barely survived. The front of the bus was completely destroyed (sharing photos).

The most shocking part: • The bus blocked the entire highway, creating a massive traffic jam. Yet, not a single person from the stuck traffic came to help or even called an ambulance. • Me and my friends had to jump out of the window and personally evacuate every passenger, help them get out safely, and even handed back their luggage. • Some passengers (Vietnamese and Chinese) were shockingly numb and ungrateful – some just stayed lying in their beds, asleep or indifferent, even after such a brutal crash. • We were left in the rain for 3–4 hours until police and ambulance finally showed up at around 7 AM. • When they did arrive, no one asked if we were injured, no water, no medical help. The passing traffic just ignored us completely. • The official news report (https://vnexpress.net/oto-khach-tong-container-tren-cao-toc-4927627.html?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=fanpage_VnE&utm_term=bgr&utm_campaign=phuonguyen&fbclid=IwY2xjawMNST9leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHhsNrviwFMhn-F5cb_hrSMUT319mJEJshefePA1-FaRXqc1nGg1OuxX4UHNv_aem_xIXCb4F4Ntwr64UueHiBKg) is completely false – it says police helped quickly, but that’s a cover-up.

Finally, we had to book a Grab to continue nearly 300 km, costing us 5 million VND. No support or compensation from the bus company, authorities, or anyone.

In my country (India), people would immediately gather, pull passengers out, provide first aid, rush to hospitals, and authorities would take responsibility. Here, I found the locals shockingly unhelpful and indifferent.

👉 My advice: DO NOT travel long distances by bus in Vietnam. It is unsafe, drivers are reckless, and in case of an accident, you’re completely on your own.

Stay safe, and please share this so others don’t go through the same experience.

Discussion/Thảo luận Ho Chi Minh zoo is atrocious

Came for a nature fix with the botanical gardens, left with a stronger disdain for my own species.

The gardens were stunning, one could easily relax for a day admiring its beauty.

The animals at Saigon Zoo, however, were kept in horrible conditions, including primates in isolated cages, multiple hippos in small enclosures with ponds not deep enough to fully submerse themselves.

Worst of the worst; a full grown mature elephant locked in a cage so tiny it was going insane. Tusks chipped away as it kept rattling the iron bars. No access to water in peak summer heat.

Easily worst experience I've had in beautiful Vietnam - its kind and warm culture was completely devoid of this place.

Close. This. Place. Down.

Discussion/Thảo luận VIETNAMESE VERSION OF ROBLOX (VNG) HAS GONE TOO FAR

Post image
707 Upvotes

Firstly, I would like to apologize for any mistakes in this post, as English is not my first language. I hope this post will be allowed because, as a community, we need to discuss this problem.

Roblox VNG (the Vietnamese version of Roblox) has gone too far this time with its new update on July 1, 2026. They have completely disabled chat and blocked access to roughly over half of the games (VPNs won’t work either), including popular ones such as Jailbreak, Murder Mystery 2, BedWars, Arsenal, Grow a Garden 2, and many others. Not only that, but they have also added a screen time limit of just one hour per day. Once your time is up, your account is automatically signed out of the game.

This is the last straw for many users because now most of our favorite games are completely inaccessible, and no users are able to communicate with each other. Furthermore, with just one hour to play per day, it is almost impossible to enjoy any games at all. Even if you’re an adult, you’re still slapped with the screen time.

I would like to discuss more about VNG and how it completely ruined Roblox for Vietnamese users.

Ever since VNG took over, it has made a lot of new updates that caused controversies, and not in a good way. They limited chat within the region and banned voice chat in the name of “making chat safer for everyone and avoiding predators.” In my opinion, there are so many problems with this. Since chat is limited only within the region, it’s actually easier for predators to prey on children and meet them in real life because we’re all in the same region. So there was no point in banning global communication in the first place. But I guess it doesn’t matter anymore since chat is now completely banned.

People are not taking this seriously enough. Some might ask, “Why not just change your region or use a VPN?” Oh let me tell you...Once your Roblox region is detected as Vietnam, you’re stuck with VNG whether you want to or not, and once you’re on VNG, there is no way out.

Even if you’re a foreigner who travels to Vietnam, accepts playing on VNG, and then returns to your country, congratulations!! You’re stuck forever. It’s irreversible, even if you contact customer support, which, by the way, is one of the most unprofessional and rudest support teams. They avoid the question, answer it incorrectly, or simply say they can’t help you and end the support. Like, what the hell are you there for if you can’t even help.

Many people have this problem, and the only way to escape VNG is to make a new account on the global version of Roblox. Vietnamese users cannot escape VNG. Even if you somehow manage to create a new account using VPNs, it’s only a matter of time before it detects you as being in Vietnam and converts your account to VNG. Of course, some people succeed, but we have to give up our old OG accounts just to escape VNG.

VNG is absolutely selfish. It doesn’t want people to leave because more users mean more people spending money on Robux. But now that so many games are banned, all of that Robux has gone to waste. Many people spent so much money on their favorite games, only for them to become completely banned and inaccessible. There are no refunds for any of the Robux people spent on those games.

Worst of all, these updates were made without any prior warning or announcement so we didn’t know in advance about any of these.

People are furious right now, but they have no voice because VNG is not taking anyone seriously. They stonewalled and still post brain rotting content on their social medias with limited comments. In the name of Vietnamese law, they made so many unnecessary changes. VNG banned games they considered inappropriate because it may have contain violence or inappropriate contents. Okay, then why did they ban games like Grow a Garden 2? Or Write a Letter, when all that game does is let people write?

It doesn’t seem like they even reviewed all the games before banning them.

Furthermore, this is absolutely selfish. VNG kept all the brain rot games and games that are “pay to win.” Roblox VNG built its brand by promoting brain rot games for children while banning games that, according to many people, actually teach useful skills. “Pay to win” games are kept because people spend money on them, and VNG earns revenue from those purchases.

This is absolutely selfish. They don’t care about their users. They’re doing this to benefit themselves in the name of the law or whatever excuse they want to use. Brain rot content has become such a concern that it has even made national news, yet VNG still keeps those games available. Their excuses are absolutely absurd.

I’m making this post because Vietnamese players have been forced into a version of Roblox that keeps taking features away, gives us no choice, no way back, and no voice. We deserve to be treated the same as every other Roblox player, we want the global version back and connect with everyone. If I missed anything or got something wrong, please let me know. I just hope this post helps people understand what Vietnamese Roblox players have been dealing with.

Discussion/Thảo luận Am I wrong for feeling weird about kids selling souvenirs in Sapa at night?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I went to Sapa last year and really loved it. Super beautiful, great trip, all that. But one thing that stuck with me was seeing a lot of really young kids out in the evening selling souvenirs. Like maybe 7–14 years old. Some of the girls were dancing around or kinda performing to get tourists’ attention, then squatting there waiting around. It just felt sad to watch.

Then recently I saw a TikTok clip showing the same kind of thing, and what really got me was the comments. So many people were praising it, saying stuff like “their parents take good care of them,” “they look healthy,” “they have good clothes,” “they love dancing so what’s the issue,” etc.

And idk man, that just feels really off to me.

Like yeah, I know kids in poorer places often have to work and help the family. I know reality is messy. But people were talking about it like it was cute or wholesome or some cultural thing tourists should enjoy. That part made me uncomfortable.

A kid smiling or dancing doesn’t suddenly make it fine that they’re out there at night trying to sell stuff to strangers.

Maybe I’m overthinking it, but it honestly bothered me a lot. Did anyone else feel weird seeing this in Sapa??

Discussion/Thảo luận I’m scared of our system

As a citizen in vietnam, i’m terrified of what could happen to my life, especially what people in power can do. They literally get away with murder, even corruption is officially not punishable by death penalty since 2025.
Over the time, i can clearly see that people with low income and no connection are so fragile, if they unfortunately go against the big guys or people with connection, then they probably get wiped off the floor.
If a person’s death can easily be bought off and forgotten, then the system truly works for only the people in power.

Discussion/Thảo luận Shirt for girlfriend's family, gone wrong

Post image

Went and made a bunch of custom t-shirts for girlfriend's family, which we will meet in ho chi minh city. I titled the shirts Ho chi Nhim city in the front with picture of a hedgehog below, because I like them. It was supposed to be a surprise, but girlfriend wanted to see them and now they're saying it's an offensive act and we could be jailed on arrival if they saw them, because of scrutinizing the name of Ho Chi Minh. Now I'm thinking to send them via package. Looking for second thoughts.

It seems this hasn't reached the mainstream media yet.

Anyway, aren't such places usually preserved and treated with more respect?

How do you see the county's "reunification" monument becoming a wild party venue?

I know its not all of them, but today we flew from phu quoc airport to ho chi minh, and the check in counter was packed with indians. 2 tried to push in front of me and my gf, and i pushed them back, then after beeing first at the baggage drop off, they just stand there, blocking the way also for others to put there bags on the rail. It nearly escalated after one told my gf to get away. They also stand arround in groups with 0 self awareness. At ho chi minh an worker needed to pass through with luggage, he told an lady with her child 4 times to make space, and she barely moved.

are they just that slow or wtf is wrong with them??

Discussion/Thảo luận Vietnamese - the best immigrants any country can ask for

Post image

I have lived in various countries and have had the privilege of meeting many people from the Vietnamese diaspora. In my experience, they are hardworking and focused on building better lives for themselves and their families. They bring the best food culture. I have had some of the best Vietnamese foods while I was in Australia.

Though there are a few bad apples here and there, but the vast majority are decent and hardworking people.

I wish Vietnamese culture , food and people spread far and wide.

Updating the numbers which includes people born outside Vietnam with Vietnamese heritage

Discussion/Thảo luận Disrespectful older generation

Post image
529 Upvotes

I’m an expat so maybe I shouldn’t pontificate, but I literally hate and despise the older generation here who just litters anywhere and everywhere. I just saw this old lady throw her plastic cup with dried fruit into some overgrown grass outside a business.

Besides being disrespectful to the community, business, attracting rodents, it continues to set back building a clean and prosperous Vietnam.

The asymmetry I see between young people being kind and respectful and old people budging lines, littering, yelling at young workers and avoiding following basic rules of the road make me upset that youth grind and do well while they wake up to litter and get assaulted at their jobs.

That said, it’s not a generalization of all old people… but I hardly see young people doing the things I complained about.

Anyways, littering sets me off…
