I’m trying to figure out how I want to approach the upcoming Phoenix/Velina banners, and I’d really like to hear from people who actually have M2 Velina and have spent time using her there.
Right now I’m sitting at M1W1 Velina and M1W1 Remielle, so obviously Phoenix looks like a very natural pull for my account. From everything I’ve been following so far, Phoenix / Remielle / Velina seems to be one of Phoenix’s strongest setups, and probably the team that gets the most out of her kit.
My hesitation is less about whether Phoenix is strong and more about how restrictive she seems to be.
A lot of the testing and creator discussion I’ve seen so far makes it look like Phoenix performs extremely well with Remielle and Velina, but starts falling off pretty noticeably once you move her outside of that core. I really enjoy Anomaly as a class, probably more than most archetypes in the game, but at this point I’m trying to build more versatility across my account instead of investing heavily into another character who might mostly live in one specific team.
That’s what has me seriously considering Velina M2 instead.
From what I understand, M2 looks like one of her more meaningful breakpoints because of the extra Windbite generation and additional Anomaly buildup. On paper that sounds like something that improves Velina's entire roster of teams rather than just adding a small personal damage increase.
So for those of you who actually own M2 Velina, I’m curious:
Does M2 feel as impactful in practice as it looks on paper?
And if you were already sitting at M1W1 Velina, would you personally rather spend that next S-rank pity on:
M2 Velina or M0 Phoenix?
For some additional roster context, one of the reasons I’m even considering skipping Phoenix is that my Fire coverage is already in a really comfortable place.
I have M6 Soldier 11 with Evelyn’s signature W-Engine, and she is honestly still destroying hard content for me. I usually run her with M0W1 Norma, and that team still performs well enough that I don’t feel like I’m missing anything from the Fire DPS side.
I also have M1W1 Burnice, so I already have a strong Fire Anomaly option as well. But of course I know Phoenix will more than likely perform better than her as the new fire anomaly character.
Because of that, I don’t really look at Phoenix as filling an elemental hole in my roster. She would be more of a premium Anomaly upgrade / new team option rather than something I actually need for Fire coverage.
That’s where I keep going back and forth.
Phoenix would obviously give me a very strong team right away because I’ve already invested into both of her strongest supports.
But at the same time, Velina M2 feels like it may have better long-term account value, because Velina can move between different Anomaly teams and potentially continue scaling with future Anomaly characters instead of being tied to one main composition.
I’m also trying to be a little more selective with pulls because Sunbringer and Kafka are probably my highest-priority future characters, so I don’t really want to burn resources just because Phoenix is strong if the better long-term move is strengthening a support I already use across multiple teams.
Right now my thought process is something like:
Option 1: Pull Phoenix M0 and keep Velina at M1W1.
Option 2: Take Velina to M2W1 and skip Phoenix entirely.
Option 3: Get Velina M2 first, then wait for actual live-server Phoenix testing before deciding whether Phoenix is still worth pulling.
Would especially love to hear from people especially M2 Velina owners.
