Earlier this month, my friend lost her phone—stolen while she was out. The thief immediately turned it off, but we managed to track it using FindMy. The location pointed to a shop on Level 2 of Wisma Saberkas. We suspect the thief sold it as a second hand phone there.
On our first visit, the shop owner denied everything. He claimed they never buy second-hand phones without an official receipt. Fair enough, we thought—maybe it was a dead end.
But a few days later, we returned, more persistent this time. While we were there, we noticed a staff member trying to discreetly carry a bag out of the shop. That raised red flags. We followed up and eventually confirmed—the stolen phone was in that bag.
When confronted, the shop owner again tried to deny responsibility. He claimed someone had simply asked them to reset the phone. Then he had the audacity to tell us not to mention their shop if we filed a police report.
We got the phone back. It was clear they had tried to erase it, but thankfully it was still protected by Apple ID. The SIM card had been removed too.
Just a heads-up to anyone buying or repairing phones at Wisma Saberkas—be cautious. Not all shops there operate with integrity.
