How close can pure FP get to C?
rtfeldman.comRoc can achieve excellent performance as a pure FP language, I think people will enjoy reading this post which looks at a pure Roc implementation of libdeflate.

I have debunked (some of the) benchmarks of this new and suspicious "Tov" programming language.
Slight background: My friend (who is pretty interested in new stuff generally) found this thing and sent its main site to me saying things like "looks pretty cool", but my intuition told me this sounds like "a scam", esp. when it claimed it performs faster than C and Rust.
I personally think apart from changing the code, they probably tried to set up some specific environments that make their programs run faster than C / Rust, or maybe they just made up the numbers. Who knows.

A visual explanation of the PHP2Shell mess. On October 21, governments pulled sites offline because of two critical bugs in PHP itself. It covers what happened, the timeline, why the bug existed, how the attack works, and the fallout. Sources are in the video description.

This is a continuation from my previous post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/1x8gk1v/i_traced_a_postgres_insert_to_raw_bytes_on_disk/
I've been putting together some notes/videos/blog posts - partly for my own future reference and partly to share with others who might find it useful.
Would love feedback and corrections from people who know this stuff deeply.

Chrome and Firefox extension that does this for your twigg repository. The links are defined in a GOLINKS file at the root of the repo, one alias per line. Add a line, push, submit and done. No admin page, and changes are versioned.

Hi r/programming 👋
Another year, another version of Python, and yet more features to guess which version of Python they belong to 😵💫
I've updated my "one page" Summary of Major Changes Between Python Versions for Python 3.15 and hope that it continues to be a useful resource for the community 😊
This summary is human typed/copied from the official release notes.

I've recently discovered that you can use Touch ID (rather, the Mac's Secure Enclave) for SSH authentication. I'm the author of the post, feel free to ask any questions and if there are any experts I'd love to hear your thoughts!
