I decided to go with Mistral instead of Claude because I really want to support European alternatives. But the thing is that it fails with even the basic stuff. I created a Canva with a plan for social media, with the days, the topic, etc., just to have everything sorted there.

When I asked Mistral to pull me information about what I should post today according to the plan, it just randomly says another day. Today is day 14. I asked him about that and Mistral replied to me, "Today is Monday 15," which doesn't match anything at all (it's Tuesday 14), and it doesn't even reflect the Canva thing.

Also, I asked him to tell me something curious about myself according to what it knew, and it just invented a random fact about myself that I've never told him and that is not true at all. I set up instructions to not invent anything, like research when asked for that, and no not invent anything that is not in the information, and it doesn't matter how many times I created those kind of procedures or rules, it just keeps inventing.

How do you avoid that, and how do you work with Mistral this way?

I don't trust AI, I think if misused by our tech overlords (which is very likely) it will bring us to the brink of civilization. If I have to choose what to trust I prefer something that exists under EU legislation and is not moving us down a cliff by bringing the technology forward no matter the cost, but is simply playing catch up. Something like Mistral.
I've been pratically forced to use AI for my thesis, I'm using claude with its vscodium integration for 20€ a month. Is there a way to switch to Mistral by integrating it's new model with vscodium as easilly, and how much would that cost, are the prices comparable?

I have been using Mistral Vibe through the VSCode extension the last few weeks, and noticed this morning that GLM-5.3 option has been replaced by the new Mistral Large 4...

While the outputs I got were mostly OK, it is notably slower than GLM... is there a way to continue using GLM ?

Do people actually take 8 weeks of vacation, but work intensely the rest of the time? Do you have proper weekends?

Will Mistral launch a family of Models along with version 4? (small, medium, large)

Now that Mistral AI seems to have "replaced" Mistral Large 3 with GLM 5.2, I'm curious if they will continue with model updates and other openweights, especially since 5.3 has just been released. They weren’t able to predict the release, which is unfortunate.

Anyway, I’m very happy that we now have a frontier-level model in the Mistral stack. Even so, I would prefer a Mistral XLarge 4, fully trained in Europe, without distillation, and with a lower hallucination rate than Chinese models.

Also curious where people stand on Mistral's current roadmap:

Are you still expecting Mistral to ship a competitive, natively trained European frontier model?

Or do you prefer that they double down strictly on enterprise-grade infrastructure, edge models, and sovereign hosting even if that means permanently relying on US or Chinese weights for top-tier reasoning ?

So, I'm a user of ChatGPT Plus for sometime now and I would like to change my AI provider to Mistral.

I've tried Vibe in the free tier with chat to get some taste of it and it feels inferior to ChatGPT, slower and overall worse answers. But then again, I'm comparing a plus vs free tier which is not fair.

How different are the free and pro tiers experience in Vibe? Does it improve enough to somewhat match ChatGPT experience?

Is everybody seeing the same?

- Yesterday, I could use GLM

- Today, I only see Mistral Medium 3.5, devstrall-small and local when doing `/model RET`

(I know I could open a support ticket, but they don't work on weekends, so might as well ask here).

Edit: I figured it out: If I disable telemetry in /config, le chat only offers Mistral Medium 3.5
I don't see anywhere that telemetry is a requirement for accessing all the available models!

First of all, using Mistral with GLM feels so good, I am relying less and less on Anthropic and the only concern is the sustainability of supplying foreign models. That will only be answered once the home models come out and hoping that they are on par with GLM.

One key difference with Claude is the absence of desktop app for Le Chat. I dont use it for coding, yet a lot of my uses are intensive, mostly for scientific research.

Using vibe as a browser tab consumes a lot of resources and end up lagging.

Another problem is how it delivers files to me. I cannot download them, i can't give it access to one of my folders. Only option seems to ask it to use my Google Drive. I've tried very hard to stop using Google altogether and its my EU champion who asks me to do it?

Are there near term plans to have some form of desktop app? Are there going to be fixes for this?

Bit of a weird summer. I'm 15, self taught in AI/coding, and a few months ago I actually made it pretty far in Mistral AI's internship process (technical test, interview with their Head of Engineering). It ended up not working out because they need a 3 month minimum commitment and I could only do 2 weeks as part of my school program.

Fast forward to now, I saw they were running a hackathon in Paris on July 18th (Mistral Vibe Hackathon) and figured it'd be a good way to still be part of it this summer. Got accepted on the platform, booked my train and hotel, was even in touch beforehand with someone on their team who told me minors were fine as long as accompanied by an adult.

Then a few days ago I got an email saying they can't accommodate minors for this event after all. I pushed back a bit (mentioned I don't care about winning, just want the experience, could bring an adult with me) but haven't heard anything concrete yet.

Anyone been in a similar situation, or have advice on how to handle this? Kind of frustrating after everything that led up to it, but not sure if there's anything more I can actually do at this point.
