ART / PROP Redraw of Reya Mantlemourn

Post image

Hey guys! I did a redraw of Reya Mantlemourn for the wolves den revamp of Descent into avernus. i thought id share, as the art of her is criminally poor. its one concept pic and a pic thats mostly cloak, so the wolves den needed another one showing her in fully rendered glory!

I decided in particular her hair really looked "deflated" so the one big creative liberty i took was to give her this gorgeous poofy hairstyle. you cant really see some of the details i put in at this quality, but there's a full quality version available through my Patreon. i also did a redraw of Lulu as well where she is much less...fat and alien. so if you are interested in that make sure you check out the links on my page!

ive also got a ton of other stuff in the works, like a full dungeon of the lair of the lost golgari, arkhan's tower, and more so follow if you want to see the stuff i will release here!

**Edit:** I’m not going to further engage with anyone making accusations in the comments I’m just going to block you to protect my peace but for those that actually have critical thinking skills I have a few things to say:

1 this is an intentionally very low quality image I exported from gimp, the program I use to draw/create. The high rez version is for my patreon supporters.

2 I use a technique called photobombing for my linework where I essentially create a collage of other pictures and trace over them, resulting in better composition and less corrections while I work. That way I can get to the shading and texturing (my favorite part) quickly.

I often leave these Frankenstein stitches out of my wips because they are ugly and difficult to distinguish when taken together, but perhaps I will post an example in the future. They also sometimes result in mistakes in realism because I am human and my eye for detail can get lazy sometimes.
It is a fundamentally different approach to art to traditional methods and is why my art looks the way it does.

ART / PROP Finale in Elturel

After months of printing and painting, I've finished the board for the Grand finale of my run of Descent into Avernus. We started in November of 2024, and our last session will (hopefully) be next weekend. Assuming enough of them survive the finale, I will be continuing into Vecna: Eve of Ruin as I've been building towards that the entire campaign.

ART / PROP I made "stained glass" props to depict the saga of Zariel

I made these little props to help depict the fall of Zariel for my players. The stained glass art is from pages 144 & 145 in the campaign book. If interested, you can find the images here and here.

The gothic frames are 3D printed from this file, scaled down to 25%, and spray-painted gold.

In the campaign book, the players can encounter images of the fall of Zariel when they meet Mad Maggie in chapter 3, as she has pieces of a tapestry that depict the saga. However, I'm planning on having my players see this stained glass at the chapel in the High Hall cemetery in chapter 2. In my campaign, this is the location where they find out that Zariel is the same angel who founded the Hellriders.

An update of my heroforged Zariel that I shared in a previous post. I've updated her eyes to be more accurate to the module art, and kitbashed her flail and halo to look better. Unfortunately the halo is floating, so printing isn't possible (you might be able to just add a transparent support piece, not sure).

It was a pretty epic battle all thanks to how wonderful my players are as their characters and the tension built from Bel earlier on.

One of my players took the image and just wanted to share how cool it looks

ART / PROP Making a better version of lulu: where i ended up and how i started.

After my pic of reya did so well last week that its not just the most liked pic on this sub in months and in the top couple for the year, i thought id give you guys a special treat (or horror show depending on how much like asthetics). Those that like my stuff be sure to give me a follow and feel free to check out my patreon at https://www.patreon.com/TheWolvesDenTavern where you can get access to all my art at top quality for just a few bucks. I'm also happy to do custom edits for subscribers so be sure to reach out there!

Because this is a post more about process than substance i don't imagine this will do as well as reya but here goes:
This is my redraw of lulu.

i have an unwatermarked version of her without the background on my patreon but for all the love (and hate lol) i got for reya i decided you all deserve to see her. And to quell the dummies who keep insisting beyond all reason that my stuff isn't human-made I'm including a part of the process that i haven't shown in my other wips/process stuff that I'm fairly certain most who don't know about art (beyond seeing it occasionally online) don't understand and cannot fathom what actually goes into it.

i know, i know: "wtf is this horrifying thing burning my eyes". That my friend is a photobomb/photobash, and it is the earliest stage of infancy for most of my art. A collection of dozens of random references photos pics other art and more that give me a baseline for my linework. this is how i decide what shapes go where, and what i want the art to ultimately turn into.

the main body of lulu is obv an elephant that i added mammoth fur to afterward (you can see at this point id already gotten a few pics for the shaggy fur but i actually mostly ended up using official art of lulu herself for it) i swapped the dumb looking ears for fennec fox shaped ones and then used the official stuff to better shade it. her eyes i used actual pearls for. her tail is a lions. the wings are some art i found of a sparrow and i ended up using a bunch of griffon pics to alter them later after i had the main shape.

now all that to say: **if this collage of images is a foreign concept to you, you dont know a thing about how i do art** and any accusations are meaningless.

For those of you that appreciate the amount of work i put into these or just had the courtesy to upvote: thank you. you are amazing ppl!

ART / PROP Haruman's Hill (minis)

Check out this version of Haruman's Hill I made.

Bulk of the hill was made using packing foam, then covered with modelling clay and finally coloured tiler's grout for ground texture. Trees, Hellriders, Jander and rocks were 3D printed and painted. I used red cellophane for the water of the River Styx.

It went down really well... it's just a shame that now the encounter is done, there's no more use for the set... days to create, a couple of hours to play on, and now never to be used again. It taught me that I need to be more "modular" when creating environments, so I can re-use elements.

Continuing to share some art I made for my home campaign, today we have the baddies of Chapter 1- High Observer/Overseer Thavius Kreeg and Duke Thalamra Vanthampur.

What can be said about these two? Personally, I ran a version of Session Negative 1 inspired by Escape From Elturel by Marc Singer and The Fall of Elturel by Anthony Joyce and Justice Arman.

I had one player witness Kreeg's carriage fleeing the city before dawn, which eventually led them to the discovery of a murder in Kreeg's chambers. My players later learned it was a last-ditch effort to make a sacrifice to Zariel, in an attempt to forgive him for not riding Elturel down as he was instructed.

Thalamra is an intense lady.

Slowly sharing some art I made throughout my campaign. I highly recommend the Alexandrian Remix's version of these two and their personal history. It really helped my players relate to them and grieve what eventually happened.

I drew Haruman first, and I've since refined the style I've been using for the game, so I may go back and clean up his art later. Such is the way. I think he still looks cute!
