I used to be adamant that their perspective on white was racist (probably because I was a self-hating black), even after they'd tell me about their negative experiences with said group (molesting, loss of opportunity, bad mouthing; general racism), but now I agree with them.
Seemingly, every single white 'friend' of mine has said something at my expense. Without consideration as to how I feel, they'd make these jokes constantly. More so, now, I've paid it mind when I otherwise wouldn't have noticed.
I've spoken with a few of them regarding the n-word (hard r) and they would admit to using it for "shock value," or without meaning direct offense to black people, or "its just a joke," or hit me with the: "it's just a word." And yet they know otherwise, for they've they've apologized for using other words when refering to me or others out of name. The same excuse is commonly given to me.
Well, recently, a 'friend' of mine referenced the hard r as a joke pertaining to the country of Nigeria ("Niggeria"). And when they were informed of my exposure to said joke, they proceeded to text me about it with usual excuses ^ ("just a joke"). That joke, and conversations with other black people at my job, has me mentally fucked up right now. Such that, my internal dialog when I see a white person is REALLY bad. I'm starting to think I just hate white people because of a few bad personal encounters. I don't think it's right.
What make it worse, is that the 'friend' from my most recent n-word experience is trans. And I liked her (she knows as much). So I'm now personalizing what others have been telling me for a while now: "NO ONE cares for us as much as we do." No white people, even if they are queer like me, care. I see what my progenitors meant.
